Finally Fixed

After two years of work and planning, I finally got my fixed gear bike complete. Here is a run down of what I've got:

My dad 'borrowed' me his old frame. It is an Assenmacher handmade that he picked up used in Mt. Pleasant before I was born. It is fresh with Campy drops and British styling (which is how Assenmacher roles). I am rocking a retro Campy crank, some rusty low-end French pedals, and an 80s leather Sprint saddle (despite its name, its from France). I just got some bright orange Deep Vs. I'll still wondering if I'm gonna hook it up with some other bars.

Sadly, I got a pinch flat already!

I haven't thought about it in a while, but for the first three months after moving back to Burque I was having a hell of a time trying to figure out the attraction of fixies. I still don't get it really. I mean, what's wrong with brakes, bro? I don't really have a problem with people who can *safely* ride these things, but so many fixed-gear hipsters around Albuquerque seem to think it's totally okay for them to be pedalling all around a four-way stop intersection because, well, because they're so effin' cool it doesn't matter if they can successfully execute a track stand or not. Also, these skinny horn-rimmed bearded mofos by and large seem to feel no need whatsoever for a helmet. WTF? I hope you're protecting your melon, dude.

Anyway, bring a bike with you next month so we can go on a ride!
